Last week’s SPARKies event was Bath’s first tech awards ceremony and part of the first Bath Digital Festival - and we were shortlisted as finalists for the Best Digital Design Agency.
We were shortlisted as finalists for the Best Digital Design Agency Award - a real honour because of the quality of digital and web design agencies in and around Bath. The team at Complete Control pipped us to the post this year for their great work in the children’s entertainment sector but it’s fantastic to have our work recognised by this particular panel of judges; a broad-ranging group of experienced techies and creatives whose opinions we really value. The panel of 16 included the likes of Tessa Cook (MD of eCommerce, Dyson), Paul Douglas (Editor, TechRadar) and Ryan Carson (CEO of Treehouse) among others.
The night was a lot of fun but what really impressed me was the atmosphere at the event. Talking to other nominees I noticed a genuine pride to be part of the South West’s digital economy. Events like The SPARKies only go to further highlight that industry leading digital businesses don’t need to be based in London (although it would certainly help with my travel costs).
The Awards and Digital Festival as a whole were both a big success. Credit to everyone involved in organising it and helping. Thanks in particular to Mike Ellis and the team at Storm for organising the Festival, and to David Maher Roberts for organising The SPARKies - everyone involved has helped to make Bath a bigger mark on the digital map.
We’re looking forward to 2013 when we can go one better and take the prize.
(...of course it’s widely recognised that the success of the whole Digital Festival is actually down to the quality of bottled water provided [by us] at the opening event)
